Patricia gave me emotional and physical support and care. She monitored and cared for my wounds. She stayed on top of my general wellbeing, coming every day to pack my wound and do a general assessment. She was so kind. She also engaged my 87-year-old father. She always spoke kindly to my father and would ask if he needed help with anything. Amazon delivery boxes on the step, she would bring them in. Trash bags to go out, Patricia always took the bags on her way out. When my wound vac was done, she helped wrap it up and dropped it off to UPS after her workday. She made friends with my dog, too.
One day my dad lost his phone, and Patricia helped him look and find it. When we discovered I needed more surgery, she was there with a kind hug and support along the way. She even adjusted her schedule so my friends could take me out. When she was not scheduled, she often texted to make sure I had no other questions. As a nurse, I trust her with my life. I feel safe and secure in her care. She cares about my wellbeing as well as physical and emotional health. She is one of the best nurses I have ever known.
Patricia meets all of the criteria for the DAISY Award, but most of all she is a wonderful nurse that cares about not only her patients but also the family and friends that help take care of these patients as well. There was never a day that you don't feel safe and comforted in her care.
