I recently spent 2 nights/3days in CoxHealth after a surgery. During my stay, Jane Van Zandt was the first nurse assigned to me and by accounts the only nurse. This nurse knows how to treat a patient. Every time she entered my room, she had a smile on her face. She showed a genuine concern for my pain and nausea. She wouldn't let me get by with just saying "I am ok" as she knew I was not.

When she was going off shift, I asked her if she was working the next two days and she said yes. I was very excited to have continuity in my care; however, on Tuesday, she was not assigned to me, but she came to my room to check on me and even took over my care at 3pm when the other nurse went home. As she recognized I was not feeling well, she immediately contacted the physician and got a change to my nausea and pain medications.

I cannot tell you how much having the same nurse can help the patient make it through. She knew me and even recognized when I tried to not tell her my true pain levels as I did not want to be a burden. She was truly my advocate. CoxHealth should be Proud to have such an outstanding nurse as she truly provides exemplary care. Thank you so much Jane!
