I was a patient at North Fulton Hospital and experienced firsthand the care of a very extraordinary nurse on the Second Floor Surgical Care Unit. I nominate Elizabeth Lister, my nighttime nurse for the DAISY Award.

I encountered a first-class, professional and well-cared for experience while being treated for a very serious Staph infection. Throughout the entire process, but especially on your second floor Surgical Care Unit, I was made to feel "important" by everyone who treated me with a loving, caring attitude.

And although everyone I encountered made my experience one to be shared, it was nurse Lister that was the "extraordinary" part of my care. She went well beyond the hospital mission statement, vision and core values in taking care of me.

Elizabeth made a wonderful lasting impression that I will always remember. Around the clock, she was very compassionate and reassuring and took the time to establish a caring relationship with me attending to my every need. They eased my anxiety by explaining, in detail, everything that she was doing and what to expect. At one critical time, she put me at ease by taking time to listen to what I was experiencing and notified the doctor when I experienced an antibiotic allergic reaction.

You cannot teach this type of caring and concern! Though honestly listening and establishing a rapport with patients sound like little things, this is truly a wonderful trait in a healthcare professional! And you at North Fulton hospital, have an extraordinary professional in the Surgical Care Unit!
