Laura was nominated for the Nurse Leader DAISY award by three staff nurses. The combined nominations describe Laura as always upholding the essence of nursing, stating she is a wonderful example for her staff. Laura works along-side the staff when we are short, including nights and weekends. She truly is our manager 24/7. She is always encouraging us to further our education and to better ourselves. Laura lets us know of ways we can improve and pushes us to reach our goals. She herself has attended multiple outside conferences, even delivering presentations to others. One example of her dedication to the staff and our unit was when she chose to stay in town Spring Break to help staff the unit. She even missed going to a friend's wedding to assure our patients had enough nursing coverage. We have since hired a nurse educator, but for a while, Laura worked at both jobs - managing and educating the staff. That in itself deserves recognition!
