My father came into the ICU and the medical team was not sure my father would even survive the surgery or recovery. Lesley was there, in her calm, reassuring manner taking awesome care of my father. What made her so special was not just the care she gave, but the manner in which she was attentive to detail and never appeared rushed or overwhelmed, just did her duties with confidence and efficiency. She also allowed my sister and me to participate in my father's care when appropriate and kept us informed as to his status and treatment plans. Helping with my father's care was a huge relief to us and allowed us to feel like we were helping in a small way. Lesley took great care of my father and his family. She remained a patient advocate and listened to our concerns as a family. She even came back days later when she wasn't his nurse to say hi and to see his progress. One day she was charge nurse and had my Dad as a patient, and never did I feel his care was compromised in any regard. Her calm demeanor and efficiency was welcomed. When she was not available, we knew who we could call for assistance. In short, she made one of the most difficult times in our family's life a cohesive, growing and bonding family experience. She helped our entire family grow and in many regards is responsible for the excellent outcome of my Dad. I will always be indebted to the compassionate, skillful, and awesome care Lesley gave to our family.
