On December 31, 2015 I lost my father. The night prior I spent the longest night of my life trying to know if I would make the right decision for his care. While all the nurses during my dad's stay gave excellent care to my dad, Lauren has a place in my heart always. She took excellent care of my father making sure she kept him informed of everything she was doing for him. He has very sick and non-responsive but she still took the time to talk to him and let him know what she was doing for him. Each time she used his name. Lauren spent time with me when I was sitting with my dad, helping me understand his medical condition, what decisions we were making for him. She was kind and compassionate.
Lauren is a perfect example of the Sister's Mission...In the spirit of Christ and the example of Francis of Assisi, the Mission of OSF HealthCare is to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the Gift of Life. Lauren took care of my father with love in her heart. She talked with me about my dad to help me celebrate his life. I could not think of a better caregiver to help me come to terms with saying goodbye to my father. She never lost site of the fact she was caring for someone's father and husband.
