I was admitted for a third time in a three-week period to ICU with a Cardizem drip. All the nurses in ICU were competent and I was able to go the PCU after my drip did not need to be adjusted . . . but I was still monitored carefully that night. I was very anxious and emotional. My IV blew and several nurses attempted to get an IV in but they were unable.
Minimole Joseph took a few moments and complimented me on my tattoo of the rosary, the Virgin Mary and the picture of Jesus Christ. I also have the words "Have Faith" tattooed and Minimole saw it then patted me on the back, looked me in the eyes and connected with me. She appeared to say a prayer and then she gave me her own personal rosary beads and said they were blessed and to please take good care of them. She told me to hold them and relax so they could keep looking for IV access and I was at ease . . . both with no pain and no anxiety. I declined any Xanax for that time. Minimole was professional, showed me true concern and both empathy and compassion. She was a leader and gave direction. She is excellent!
Note: This is Minimole's second DAISY Award!
