The nomination form was submitted by the patient's family. The patient was in the hospital on his 21st birthday but Angela made sure the patient had a great birthday even though he was in the hospital. She even had a cake delivered to his room.
At one point there had to be a decision made on whether or not the patient would need to get a blood transfusion, Angela listened to the patient's and family's concerns and was very informative about all options. She did everything she could to accommodate the large family and so many visitors. She always ensured that the patient was comfortable along with the whole family; she always asked before she left the room if there were any questions or needed anything. She even moved the patient to a private room so he could rest/heal and to provide more room for the family.
Angela has a kind heart and was able to show through her actions and words, that she truly cares about the patient's health and healing. She worked great with colleagues and has respect for others, as they respect her.

Angela has been an invaluable addition to our team. She is a true leader on the floor; working as charge nurse, preceptor and also recently undertaking a position on our nurse practice council. Team members appreciate her positive attitude and willingness to assist others no matter the situation. Angela's nursing practice is centered not only on her strong knowledge of the profession, but also in her core values of going above and beyond in caring for her patients. She serves as an outstanding role model to not only staff but also students and new hires on 4 East.
