Stephanie Riding is the nurse educator for Maternity Services but she does so much more. Whenever there is a special situation or complex problem, Stephanie is always ready to step in and solve any issues with a smile. A recent example is when I had a patient with special needs who was scheduled for delivery by cesarean. My patient and her spouse have achondroplasia (little people). Needless to say, most things in this world are not made for little people and that includes hospitals. Stephanie came to my office to speak with my patient during one of her appointments about any special requirements. She then altered hospital gowns and cover-ups for Dad to use during the cesarean. She set up a room with an infant bed low enough that Mom and Dad could get their newborn without assistance and provided other tools so they could be more independent. My patient was so grateful for Stephanie's consideration. All these things made her birth experience amazing.
This is only one example of Stephanie's amazing ability as a nurse to be completely patient focused. She is a great leader and an example for all the staff on our unit.
