From the moment Jan Gibson walked into the room it was like sunshine! She was positive, upbeat, and full of energy. I could see my dad just light up and it was because of her. We watched her work. She was so professional and took so much time to make sure everything was perfect for Dad. She spent a lot of time checking his medications, looking him over, getting warm blankets, helping to feed him, answering our stupid questions, and most importantly showing her compassion to him.
I know she was working 12-hour shifts because it seemed she was there all day and into the night. Every time we saw her in the hallway she was really on the move helping other patients and nurses as well. We never felt as though she was too busy for us. I can tell you that I never left my dad alone in the hospital before, but I did this time. She gave me so much confidence that she would look after him, that I left to get rest myself. She did everything she said she would.
She really made a positive impact on Dad and our family. We are fans of St. Vincent's because of her. She really deserves a big thank you for a job well done. She truly is doing great work and is a wonderful face of St. Vincent's. Thank you, Jan Gibson, for all you did for my family.
