Patrick Mulrine has demonstrated consistent and exceptional skills in patient communication and advocacy. He holds exemplary care of our patients in highest regard. Every time that I interact with him and observe his collaboration with our patients, I am impressed with his level of professionalism, consistent ethics and superior communication skills.
Patrick is well-known in our department as our resident counselor. He lives beyond petty preoccupations and disputes and is often the go to when an objective intermediary is needed. He is emotionally intelligent and is able to ascertain social issues that may be affecting our patients' health or their compliance with medical recommendations.
Just one day ago, a patient who likely has some psychological impairment, called the clinic frustrated that he was short of breath and not being helped. This gentleman is a very difficult historian which has made his care challenging. I listened as Patrick talked with him very patiently on the phone, held for a long period of time while the patient was able to get a pen to write down instructions. He again waited for him to get his pill bottles when he didn't know his medication doses. He then communicated his concerns to me so that we could bring the patient in for a visit for detailed review.
I have worked with many nurses over my decade of practice as a cardiologist and I can report without hesitation that Patrick is the best nurse I have had the privilege to work with. He makes my task as a physician much easier.
