I have only had the pleasure of working with Liliana since February, but in that short time, she has gone above and beyond more than once, both for her patients as well as her new team. Transitional times can be difficult, but Liliana handled it all with patience and grace. She has extensive knowledge in her specialty and has been an integral part in training her new teammates in their expanded roles. She has come in extra on many occasions when there is no other VAS team member scheduled.

Recently, there was no VAS team member scheduled and the rapid response team members were responsible for completing the VAS orders for the campus. I received a call from SCU NM that there was an order for a PICC line to be placed on a patient that was to receive their first chemotherapy treatment that day. The patient was to be discharged home after chemo if the patient tolerated. I quickly called Liliana, who agreed to come in on her day off to place a PICC line. There was a VAS nurse on the very next day, but Liliana's caring and compassion in coming in on her day off allowed this patient to receive their treatment without delay so they could return home to their family.

It is little actions such as this that make a difference in the lives of our patients. I am so proud to work with such a caring professional as Liliana.
