My family and I recently went through the worst days of our lives. My Dad was admitted to ICU after arresting at home. He was resuscitated and on life support, but it was clear he had irreversible brain damage. I a nurse practitioner, my sister a nurse, and my Stepmother, all knew my Dad's wishes, which were to not prolong the inevitable on life support. Though we did not give up hope, it was Jodi who helped us with our concerns and questions during this very difficult time. She was a strong advocate for us in relaying my Dad's and our wishes to providers. She was very knowledgeable and honest in her responses. She always made sure we were looked after while also caring for my Dad.
After several long days, she stayed past her shift because she knew we were taking my Dad off life support. Her last shift before my Dad had passed, she shared a similar, touching story, said her condolences and gave us hugs. We all cried and thanked her. I still think to this day that God had played a role in placing Jodi in my Dad's and our lives. We can never thank her enough for her compassion, respect, and care. She was a light during a very dark time.
