Brooke Miller, BSN, RN, is an outstanding nurse who is very passionate about ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to all of her patients. Brooke's desire to positively impact each and every patient is evidenced by her serving as the Operating Room (OR) representative on the Pressure Ulcer Prevention team. Whether she is implementing positioning changes for cases or disseminating information to staff, she is diligent about applying research as part of practice changes to provide the best outcomes possible.
Additionally, even though Brooke isn't in a formal leadership position, she has taken the initiative to orient every new nurse that rotates through the cardiac service. Brooke's assuming of this role has given consistency and familiarity to new OR staff. Not only is Brooke an excellent preceptor but she also serves as a mentor to many.
Brooke's coworkers describe her as professional, patient and focused. Her strong ability to prioritize helps her succeed in a fast paced, highly demanding environment with critically ill patients. The most impactful statement was simply put by one of her peers saying, "She is the kind of nurse I would want to hand my child over to if I had to."
