When I come to work and see that I am working with Ashley on my hall, I know that I will have good support and a great team player. Ashley consistently goes above to help her co-workers. She takes care of not only her patients but all the patients of her hall. She is constantly answering call lights, addressing beeping pumps, hanging new bags of fluids, taking patients to restroom. She is always willing to help with bed baths and turning patients. Ashley has a strong knowledge base and great ability to think critically. She is someone who I feel confident bouncing off questions and concerns regarding my patients.
Ashley is currently training to be a charge nurse. Her skills, knowledge, and willingness to lend a hand will make her a fantastic leader on the 3rd floor. Ashley continues this level of care with her own patients. She is kind and considerate. She takes time to educate her patients on their medications and health conditions. She takes the extra step in patient care that makes the patient feel validated.
Two weeks ago, Ashley and another nurse were working a hall together, the other nurse's patient expired just after the shift began. As any nurse knows, the death of a patient can set you back 2-3 hours in your routine. While the other nurse dealt with the events surrounding the patient's death, Ashley rounded on her other patients and passed all her morning medications.
