I felt like my world was ending and Michelle was an angel who was there for me on that day. She sat with me as I cried and hugged and comforted us. Since then, Michelle has been with our daughter and our family throughout this fight. She is an amazing nurse who is truly dedicated to her field and her patients. She is professional and educates and assists her patients and their families in ways that go above and beyond. We love our 'Nurse Chelle' and thank God every day for bringing her into our lives.
This mother submitted a second nomination for Michelle 2 years later and stated:
We were lucky to have Michelle as my daughter's clinic nurse for the duration of her 3-year treatment. Even though we do not see her as often now that my daughter has finished her therapy, we will never forget Michelle and her excellent support, professionalism, and love as our nurse! She is truly an asset to CHKD.
Michelle was also nominated by one of her patients who said:
Michelle has been an excellent caretaker during my chemotherapy. Michelle always makes sure that she addresses all of my and my family's concerns and needs immediately. She always has a bubbly, fun attitude and it brings light to such a sad place. Michelle makes chemotherapy a much more pleasant experience.
Michelle's manager validates all of these perceptions when she says:
Michelle is so caring and compassionate with all of her patients, their families, and her coworkers. Michelle has the gifts of both grace and humor that serve her well as she works directly with Oncology patients, and she strives to get to know each and every one of her patients in order to provide them with the care that they need based on their individual disease and situations. Michelle is always ready and willing to lend a hand to her coworkers and is the epitome of a team player. It is an honor to work alongside of Michelle.
