Ashley continually demonstrated the characteristics of a prudent nurse and awesome team leader and member. Every night she works the team feels organized, prepared and togetherness. Ashley always puts others first and fosters an environment of learning and encouragement. Countless times she has saved so many lives by her sound judgment and skills. There was one particular night she had a great impact on me.
One night, as I began to assess my patients, I found one patient laying in a very large pool of blood from his incision site. Initially I had a moment of fear and concern. Immediately, I went to Ashley and without question she came to help. I know I can depend on her. Once certain the patient was stable, Ashley helped me clean the patient and then went to take care of her own patients. A few minutes later Ashley came in the room asking if the patient was okay. At the same time, the patient became faint and stopped breathing. Ashley immediately hit the code blue button. The patient, thankfully, began to breathe again.
As a new(ish) nurse, I was very nervous about everything that was happening. Ashley knew just what to do. She encouraged me, she had confidence and believed in me and she helped me think things through on my care for this patient. Ashley helped equip me with what I needed to be a prudent nurse.
This is just a glimpse of how amazing a nurse Ashley is. She continually goes above and beyond the call of duty. She genuinely cares and has great judgment skills. I hope to be just like her some day! Thanks Ashley for all you do and for the many lives you've saved and for believing in me!
