Deb is the lead RN in the outpatient infusion area of TCU. She has worked solely with our infusion patients for over 2 years, during this time Deb has excelled at promoting service excellence and fostering relationship based care with all of her patients.
Deborah came in to work with a box of cupcakes, a bag of presents and a birthday card for a pediatric patient who was turning 18. Immediately Deb rounded up the team members on the unit to sign the card, everyone kept asking whose birthday is it. Deb replied it was a "special birthday" for their patient. Deb went on to explain how her patient did not get anything for Christmas and Deb felt it was very important to make sure we supported the family in celebrating such a "special birthday". At lunch time, she rounded up the team members, to take a few minutes to come go in the infusion room and sing happy birthday to the patient. This patient has been coming to TCU for about 5 years, I have never seen her with such a big smile, as she opened her gifts and was delighted.
Deb is one of the most compassionate, caring, kind and sincere person I have had the pleasure of working with. Deb always has a smile and kind words for all team members, visitors and patients. She is gentle and caring, and very personable with patients and families, always finding some common ground in which to bond with them.
