I was really feeling down when my new nurse for the night, Steve, came in to see me. He sat down and took the time to talk to me and help me. He made me feel like life was worth living by showing me such compassion. I have never had someone show me that they cared so much. It's really lonely here in the hospital and when Steve talked to me it helped to take my mind off of my current problems.
Every time Steve came in the room it lifted my spirits. He was always right there whenever I needed him and always took his time and was very thorough. He could've had the busiest night, but I wouldn't have known it from his actions. He was always calm, compassionate, and available to listen or answer questions. Steve made me feel like I wasn't just another patient in the hospital, but that I was someone special; someone who matters.
