Jonathan allowed my Grandmother to be released from her restraints making an agreement with her and trusting that she would not pull her vent tube. This allowed my Grandmother to hold her family close and do arm exercises freely when she felt strong enough. Beyond that, Jonathan educated the family with such compassion and he was so patient with all of our many, many questions. We are a large family and often there were 20+ people waiting during operations and in and out of her room on a daily basis. As you can imagine, we all had concerns and questions and Jonathan was so knowledgeable and spoke to us on a level that we could understand and if we didn't, he would continue educating us until we did. He drew diagrams for us before operations outlining what Grandma was going to endure.
Above and beyond does not touch the type of compassion that Jonathan showed during this time of grief. Not only was he the most amazing caregiver I have ever met but he also sat with our family during the last days of Grandma's life and told us how sorry he was for our pain and suffering. I feel so blessed to have met Jonathan over the past month. Nurses like him truly make this world a better place. We acknowledge and appreciate how comforting he was to each and every one of us during this time of despair.
