I first spoke with Emily after the doctor informed me and my husband of our miscarriage at 11 weeks. It was the most devastating day for me and my husband. We left the office with an understanding of what would be ahead. Little to our dismay, would the week go as we planned or hoped. Emily was my rock through this entire week. She was there when I needed her most. She provided up to date information, guided me through the darkness all while at home. She provided insight, encouragement and passionate care when I needed it most.
A month later, when I contacted Emily once again, she allowed for me to catch my breath after some not so pretty crying, all while over the phone, assured me that everything would be ok, but also encouraged me to feel my emotions as that is part of the healing process with this type of event. She assured me it was okay to cry and okay to take a minute to myself. She provided great nursing care-all while I was at home. Our communication continued when the decision for a D&C was needed. This was not an easy process for me but with Emily's nursing skill and care, she was able to assist me, emotionally and physically, from afar. I know that some will say "that's just part of her job" but as a patient, I never expected to have this type of care, constant communication, and support from a nurse while at home. She was my rock this week. She allowed me to process my emotions and still handle the physical changes my body was experiencing. A nurse who can provide that type of care, over the phone, is an exceptional nurse and went well beyond her call of duty.
The following week she was there again to provide support as needed and when I needed her. She kept in communication with me until I returned to work. Thank you to Emily for providing more than exceptional care to me during a very difficult time of my life. Because of your care, compassion and guidance I feel we have the best outcome for this event. Thank you again.
