Rebecca is not only a highly skilled Registered Nurse at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Cardiovascular Imaging Lab but more so a kind and compassionate nurse and colleague. On a busy day in the unit Rebecca was the primary care nurse for a patient undergoing a Transesophageal Echocardiogram with elective Cardioversion, the patient was very anxious and so was the family. Rebecca spent time explaining the procedure and reassuring both that the procedure was safe and developed a strong bond with these clients. After successful procedures Rebecca became aware that the patient and family member did not have their own transportation home but had a friend who was to pick them up at the hospital. A new prescription for a heart medicine that was important to be started that day to maintain the patient's heart rhythm had been prescribed and as they had no way to stop at a pharmacy to fill this new medicine script. Rebecca became aware of her patient's distress about the situation as their ride did not have time to make any stops as he needed to get to his job on time. She then facilitated getting our new retail Pharmacy, that just opened that morning, to have this script filled before their transportation arrived so the plan of care would continue in their home environment. This patient and family member expressed their gratitude over and over for Rebecca's action that improved their future health and patient experience with our hospital. She made a difference with her compassionate care for this patient.
