Professionalism, Intelligence, Commitment to others, Respect, Caring, Nurturing are words that one would use to describe her.
Every day at the Surgery Center, Shellie is one of our top performing nurse. She is frequently assigned to do our pediatric cases because of her intelligence and ability to connect and nurture our pediatric cases. And she loves doing it too.
For example, in mid October, Shellie's 3-year-old patient was so nervous that she wet herself from head to toe prior to surgery. The child was accompanied by her single dad and unfortunately the dad didn't have a set of clothes for her for after the surgery. The dad felt really bad and was so concerned about not having a set of clean clothes for her to go home. Shellie immediately without hesitation reassured the Dad, that she will take care of it.
Shellie called in a favor from a friend to go to Target to pick up a set of outfits and underwear. She also made sure that it was available prior to the child's discharge.
This is just one example of her work to nurture and care for her patient. She is so amazing!
Shellie also practices compassionate nursing and respect the unique needs of every patient. She considers and respects all social, economic, personal differences of patient. She's one of the very few nurses at the Surgery Center that works closely with our Transgender operations.
I am so blessed to be working with her 6-8 hours a day, five days a week. She is pleasant and fun to be around with. She elevates me to do better and serve better every day.
