My husband and I arrived to the OB department excited to welcome our first child. We heard so many wonderful things about JMC and the amazing nurses and facilities. As we were being checked in, we met our nurse. She informed us that all of the labor and post-partum rooms were full. We could not believe it. She assured us that we would be delivering our son in triage. As first-time parents, we were in shock that our labor was going a little differently than planned. Luckily, we had this nurse by our side. She made us feel comfortable and tried to make the best of the situation for us. She went out of her way to make our experience (even in a tiny triage room) wonderful. She was due to go home around 9 a.m. that morning and I was so nervous for her to leave us.
Thankfully, she decided to stay with us and help deliver our son! He was born at 10:23 a.m. after this amazing nurse's 16-hour shift. We could not be more grateful to her for bringing our beautiful son into this world and helping first-time parents to have the most wonderful birthing experience! The icing on the cake came 2 days later when she showed up in Post-partum to care for us as our night nurse. To say we were excited to see her is an understatement! She took such amazing care of both Mom and baby. I even cried when she went off shift on Sunday morning, which happened to be Mother's Day. Kristina gave me the most amazing gift by bringing our son into this world. A very special Mother's Day I will never forget!
