I was a diabetic and had not eaten all day so when I got to 4 West from the ER I was able to get some food thanks to Christian constantly calling dietary. The next day I was to have a cardiac stress test and was very nervous for I had positive results. He came into the room and explained everything about the procedure and said, what can I do to make you comfortable? He was kind enough to make sure my IV was working. He said that we shouldn't to be worried about the cardiac catheter, he seemed very sincere.
He actually took time to get to know about my personal life and he also asked about my family. He made me see my illness in a different perspective. He gave me the strength to move on and look at the brighter side in the situation. Christian assured me that he would be back to care for me after my heart catheter and I was back in 4 West. I let him know that everything was normal. That night he made sure I had dinner, got me some pudding for dessert, helped me get cleaned up, remade my bed and got me all together again.
A few hours later, my angiogram site bled profusely. I was scared. My blood pressure dropped like a bullet. I felt dizzy and I just don't know what happened. My nurse moved me back from the chair to the bed and I don't know how he did it, I weigh 275 lbs, and carried me strongly as he could. He checked my blood pressure and took a sandbag to put pressure on the wound. The bleeding stopped and I felt good after he gave me fluids. It was the end of shift and he stayed a few minutes later to make sure that I'm alright.
The one thing I experienced is compassionate service. It was his kindness that made me feel ok! I have been in seven different hospitals, Christian was easy to talk to, always had a smile and sincerely wanted to make me comfortable and confident with the care he gave. I am forever indebted to the kind of service I received in this unit.
I have been a member of Kaiser Permanente for over 40 years. I'm proud that I'm with KP because the people in this organization really care and they define their profession with utmost service and empathy for those who need help. Christian Belleza is truly a remarkable person, one that you can be proud of!
