Jaime was recognized by a colleague, who referred to her as "Florence in the flesh," a nurse who vigorously advocates for both patients and staff on the unit. She has served as a wonderful preceptor for new nurses on this arduous unit, and she also initiated a mentorship program to increase the positivity and help with staff retention. To her patients, Jaime truly is a beacon. Recently, a patient with a mechanical heart had been in and out of the hospital frequently and both the patient and their partner had been becoming more and more morose. It was their anniversary during one visit, and it was Jaime's idea to get them a cake and have other nurses stop by to wish them a happy anniversary. From that moment, the patient's attitude improved tremendously. Jaime's colleague continued: "They were filled with positivity, and when they come it today, they always bring up how much it meant that Jaime got them a cake and helped them celebrate their anniversary. They even made the picture of it their social media profile picture. Every time I see them, they are filled with hope and joy, this is thanks to Jaime Rank."
