Scott Moore, RN deserves the DAISY Award not only for his amazing show of leadership, but also for maintaining composure throughout a very difficult case.
Scott was the charge nurse in the Trauma room on the unfortunate day an officer was shot. Scott is already a strong learder and great charge nurse and we were able to see so much more of him and his skills on this particular shift. Not one second was wasted once the ring down was confirmed. Scott made sure all equipment and necessary personnel were available and ready for the gun shot wound patient. Knowing the unit would soon be full of uniforms Scott assisted in the leadership of having security keep other patients calm and in their rooms. If Scott was nervous or scared he never showed one ounce of it to his staff. He maintained pure composure and class. This allowed his crew for the day to provide care for the fallen officer and his family.
I cannot express how impressed I am with Scott's attitude and demeanor and compassionate leadership on this difficult day. I was proud to be part of his team and feel he deserves much more appreciation for how he handled himself. Thank you Scott for showing such morale and class and compassion to the staff and family.
