Nomination from a family member:
We had Jamie on a couple of our overnight shifts. But the night I really noticed Jamie was when my mom was having a particularly rough night with pain and discomfort; just an all around bad night! I spent the night trying to calm my mother with whatever she needed or requested but nothing was working until Jamie came in and introduced herself. Jamie's voice, attitude, smile, disposition, I don't know what it was, but she made my mom feel better immediately. After my failed attempts to ease my mother and asked Jamie what was her secret, she said with a straight face, she could tell me only if I was a patient at Holy Cross. I love this nurse!
From Jamie's Nurse Manager, Ron Carpio:
Jamie started as a nurse traveler in November 2013. With her calm demeanor and excellent rapport with the staff, she quickly adapted to the activities of the unit. Jamie is very patient with families and patients when speaking to them, and takes time to help her colleagues despite having a busy shift. Jamie welcomes new challenges and accepts responsibilities without complaints. Jamie is also punctual and completes her job on time. As one of the resource nurse's comments, Jamie is the "ideal nurse you want to work with." We are saddened to see Jamie finish her contract next month, but at the same time, ecstatic to be able to experience her friendly smile, her strong work ethic, and most importantly, her innate compassion towards her patients and family members. Thank you for being part of the Holy Cross family. We will miss you!
