Lynea Tremewan is an excellent nurse, leader, mentor, and cheerleader. Lynea has always been an amazing nurse. Her nursing skills are amazing. She has always gone above and beyond to provide quality and safe patient care to our patients and families.
Lynea also exhibits excellent nursing leadership skills. Lynea has been a clinical coordinator for approximately 5 years, but part of the leadership team for about 7 years. Lynea is a mentor to the staff she supervises. The nursing staff loves when Lynea is in charge. When they come in and see her name as the charge RN, they all say "yes, Lynea is here. No matter what, my day will be good." This in itself speaks significantly. Staff love Lynea because she is always in a great mood, she always has a positive attitude, no matter how difficult the situation, and she is always supportive of her staff. Lynea takes the time with each person and she has a way of making each person feel so important in the moment. She genuinely is excited to see staff and she makes them feel that way also.
Not only is Lynea great with staff, but she does an exceptional job collaborating with our patients and families. When we first started leader rounding on the units, Lynea did an outstanding job and made it a priority to leader round with families, and she continues to make it a priority today. She became vested in ensuring our patients and families were rounded on within 24 hours of admission, knowing the importance of this. I always do hand off report with Lynea and I can say she is a great team player in ensuring this is always done.
Lynea also does an amazing job collaborating with all healthcare team members, ensuring that communication is open and is the top priority. She has built professional relationships with all disciplines of the healthcare team, ensuring each patient receives teamwork, excellent communication and quality and safe patient care. Lynea has also built strong relationships within the organization that helps her to staff nursing/CA's on a daily basis. She does an amazing job working with staffing and with other units to ensure the organization is seen as whole, and doing what is best for the organization, always keeping safety in mind.
Lynea also has a great interest in quality improvement and has vested a significant amount of time into a research project on the Inpatient Medical Unit. Approximately 5 years ago, Lynea joined the line draw study as a co-investigator. Lynea was instrumental in helping to collect enough samples so we would be able to analyze our data. She has been a strong team player, helping with presenting, collecting data and helping with literature and data analysis. Lynea also recently became a co-lead on another quality project on the Inpatient Medical Unit in which they are measuring safety and patient/family satisfaction with change of shift admissions. Lynea is a true team player and is always willing to jump on projects to help improve our current practice and to make it safer for our patients and families.
Lynea is also our "lactation consultant" on the Inpatient Medical Unit. Approximately 6-7 years ago, Lynea received her level 4 in lactation. She had a great interest in learning more about how to help our breast feeding mothers and providing education to our unit. Although she does not continue with her level 4 in her Clinical Coordinator role, Lynea has remained an expert for our units and has received her certification in lactation.
Lynea is an amazing nurse and an amazing nurse leader. Each day she comes in, she makes a difference in not only our patients and families lives, but in our staff's lives. She is truly vested in working at Children's Hospital Colorado and always wants to make sure she is doing the best that she can do.. She is an amazing team player and I love working with her, knowing it will be an amazing shift because I followed her
