Tabby Cummings exemplifies the professional nurse by her empathy, caring compassion and extraordinary clinical skills. She represents the true aspects of the competent and yet compassionate professional nurse.
Tabby was my nurse when I went in for my second stent placement in my right leg. From the moment she stepped in my room, she was not only preparing me for my stent placement but also assessing the needs of my wife and daughter. She wanted to make sure all of our questions were answered and that they too, were comfortable. This was impressive and made me feel so good that I didn't have to worry about my family while my procedure was being done. I was only one of tabby's patients that day, but she made me feel like I was the only one!
After my procedure, Tabby kept a close eye on me, checking my dressing, watching the monitors. After the allotted time has passed, Tabby got me up to walk. I was fine until I got back to my room and sat on the bed. I collapsed and my nurse jumped into action. She started compressions/CPR. I was transferred to CCU that evening and while my family waited in the waiting room for word on my condition, Tabby, instead of going home to her family, came to check on my family and see if they needed anything. She continued to check on all of us during my hospital stay. She also insisted on helping transport me to CCU that evening.
Tabby is an inspiration to the nursing profession. She put my needs and my family's needs before her own. She remained positive, supportive and was an empathetic ear for my family. She went beyond just doing her job. As a cardiac patient, I am so glad Tabby is a member of the Winchester Medical Center Team.
Thanks to Tabby's quick actions and excellent skills I am here today with my family.
