I have always known, since the day she started working in Prep and Recovery, that Jinhee was one of the sweetest, most compassionate and thorough nurses that I have ever worked with. She comes across as one of the more quiet staff members but I have been reminded more than once that when she needs to be, she can be assertive and an advocate for her patients.

One event in particular stands out to me which was maybe a year or so ago. Jinhee was caring for a post-procedural patient who was scheduled to be discharged home once recovered. The patient was elderly and had multiple comorbidities. The patient was not doing well from her observations and from the perspective of her Physician she was ok to go home, Jinhee did not feel this was appropriate. She persisted voicing her concerns regarding her patient and the patient ultimately was admitted.

I have been impressed with Jinhee's care of her patients and overall performance not only from this instance but also having it reiterated by many of her coworkers. They say that she is conscientious, never complains, is professional and caring.

Today I received a letter from a patient which sums up how great a nurse Jinhee is:

"I want to express my deepest appreciation to two of your nursing staff that cared for my wife after her surgery. The nurses provided care that was far above and beyond what we have experienced in the past. They were extremely attentive to all of her needs. They were continually updating us with what was going on, especially the discharge process that was taking longer than expected due to the doctor being in another surgery.

Their manner was exceptional on all levels. Her personal comfort was always their concern. They were both very pleasant and a joy to be around.

On returning home we were discussing my wife's care with our eighty-eight year old neighbor who was recently in the Salem Hospital. We mentioned the nurse's name and our neighbor said that was her nurse also, "she was such a kind and considerate person".

Thank you for employing such skilled and caring nurses. This one has left a very favorable impression on two very important women in my life.

Oh, the RN's name is Jinhee Sohn and the CNA's name is Jennie."
