It brings me great joy to nominate Carly Pool, RN for the DAISY Award. Excellence is what we at WakeMed strive for and the Wake Way is the driving force behind what makes our facility unlike any other. Carly is the perfect example of the Wake Way in all aspects. Every shift, she demonstrates excellent individualized patient care, emphasizes safety, teamwork, has excellent listening skills and above all, shows compassion and empathy to anyone in need.

Carly's ability to immediately transform from co-worker to caregiver recently was professional and yet very personal. I became a patient during my shift when I suddenly collapsed in the unit and became unresponsive. Carly's actions and critical thinking skills prevented my condition from becoming much more serious. She is my hero. I truly believe her rapid response to the incident is responsible for my active recovery. If she had not reacted so swiftly, I fear I would have experienced long term complications.
