Karen Pierce, RN, Pre-Op Holding, was nominated for providing "very compassionate and professional care to patients when they are facing difficult times in their lives requiring surgical intervention."

Karen is always attentive to their needs and receives patient "thank you" notes and comments stating how she put them at ease and provided them with confidence that they were being well cared for. One comment from a patient was "Karen is a very knowledgeable nurse. As she prepped me for surgery, I remember being very calm because of the way she spoke to me and the level of competence she demonstrated. She worked well with the physicians and anesthesia staff. She also has a good sense of humor, which took my mind off my surgery. Karen is a wonderful nurse."

Her Director added, "We rely on Karen for VIPs, as well as difficult patients. Her professionalism and soothing communication always seems to put others at ease. Karen is a blessing and a fabulous person to know."
