Hope attended a community event, promoting Stroke awareness and education, where she was approached by a patient she recently cared for in the emergency room. The patient was paralyzed and in a wheelchair, and he stated, " I wanted to meet Hope, the RN who saved my life." He explained that according to his wife, Hope advocated for him, as he was life-flighted to UPMC in Pittsburgh. He states the doctors were not sure if he would survive, but Hope stayed with his wife and helped her make the decisions needed to care for her husband. This particular story sticks in my head, causes tears to well up in my eyes, and makes me proud to not only work with Hope but be part of our profession as nurses. Additionally, there were other people there that had recognized Hope and again thanked her for the care she had provided for them in the emergency room. Thank you, Hope, for the quality care you provide and supporting the community!
