I think of Lori as the calming eye to what is the 'tornadic' L&D unit. No matter how busy that unit becomes, Lori continues to remain compassionate, selfless and sensitive to her patients and to her fellow employees. I have never seen her be anything but calm and kind.

She also has exceptional clinical skills and is a patient advocate. In the past, she has chaired the Quality Council and has put a creative spin on what many consider a "boring" team. Ask to see her video on bedside reporting :) Recently, she has joined the MCH unit's Operations Team, which is a group put together by our Director to work on process improvement issues. Lori eagerly jumps to help improve problems, which many others turn away from (ex. discharge phone calls).

Lori also provides extraordinary patient care and is often mentioned in patient kudos letters and during discharge phone calls as a "favorite nurse".

I am Lori's co-worker but I've also had the experience of having Lori as my L&D nurse. I was in and out of the hospital multiple times, and Lori took care of me during most of my visits. She was always calming, professional and kind. I also felt that she was protective and held my best interests in mind at all times. And, I have to mention, she made me the best breakfast bread for my family after my little guy was born. Lori is an RN, videographer and a chef! :)
