Duringa follow-up phone call to a family member of a recently deceased patient, the family commended Billy for being very compassionate, intelligent, and a wonderful asset to have helped them in this transition. His professionalism was not unforeseen by staff and family members.
Innovation: William (Billy) was an experienced nurse on the surgical specialty floor, however, he aspired for more, and wanted to grow further as a nurse. He was accepted to and completed the critical care nurse residency program and is now a successful, valuable nurse in our Surgical ICU. He is always looking for ways to grow, learn, and take on new challenges and opportunities for growth and development.
Compassion: Billy is one of the calmest people we have ever met. He always remains calm under any stressful or exciting situation. He handles challenges with professionalism, calm natured, and has a comforting and reassuring spirit. He provides excellent patient care, and the patients, families, and staff members recognize his outstanding care.
Accountability: Billy is always accountable for all actions. He not only shows up on time, he is early to everything, and always over prepares. If we need a volunteer to help out with something, come to an event, or have a committee representative, Billy quietly, yet enthusiastically usually always volunteers first. He is respectful to let others as well but always says, if you ever still need anyone, I am here and available.
Respect: That is what Billy stands for. He is professional, respectful, and maintains the privacy and dignity of all patients at all times. We are proud to have him on our team.
Excellence: Billy was one of the first night shift SICU staff to step up and want to be a part of the magnet journey. He was honored to attend the selected meal meetings with the surveyors. He has also stepped up to be the SICU rep for the Night Council and co-chair. Billy will present opportunities to the leadership team in such an honorable way, and always brings ideas, and possible solutions with him.
We are so proud of the amazing work and excellent patient care Billy provides in the SICU, and he continues to amaze us each day as he strives to grow and excel as a critical care nurse!
