Last week I floated to the ER and Marissa Schwent was the charge nurse. As usual it was a busy day in the ER. Towards the end of the day the triage nurse got busy so Marissa began to triage patients. She told me that she was going to be bringing me a back a patient. After a while I noticed that there was no patient. Marissa went searching for my patient and instead found a man slumped over in pain in the corner of the ER lobby and immediately hoisted him into a wheel chair and brought him back to 8a. Marissa hollered out to the MD's to come over STAT! It was discovered that the patient had a huge AAA and was actively bleeding. Without Marissa's intervention this patient could have died. He was sent to the OR and the operation was successful. I feel like Marissa's actions saved this man's life and she should be recognized for her heroic measures.
