I have been an employee at UPMC Mercy for 2 years and from the first time I met Kathy, she made me feel welcome. She has a very positive attitude no matter what the situation is. She provides awesome care. Kathy is professional and very knowledgeable. I have not heard a negative response from her. When I walk on the unit and see her smiling face, I know all is going to be okay - no matter what is going on in the unit. She treats her patients and families with the utmost respect and gives knowledgeable care.

I have watched her precept new nurses and she teaches them well, challenges them and makes sure that they have all the information they need to provide their patients with great care. She is a great resource. She has a wealth of knowledge and if she does not know the answer she knows where to find it.

Kathy serves as charge nurse in our unit. She is very well organized. She delegates well and keeps the flow of the unit moving well. She is not afraid of working. She can make quick, knowledgeable decisions which are needed in a unit like this one.

UPMC Mercy is blessed to have her as an employee and I am blessed to have her as a co-worker. I worked at my previous employer for 18 years and would have loved working with her for all those years.
