While each nurse in the Infusion Unit deserves an award, Evelyn stands out. Not only is she efficient and professional in her job, she also makes the patients feel at ease during a sometimes stressful time. She never fails to offer a kind word, a hug, a warm blanket, and ginger ale and crackers when you feel unwell. I was a patient for 14 days, going twice a day (8am and 5pm) for antibiotic infusion. During this time I observed Evelyn's many kindnesses, not only to me, but to each patient cared for at that time.
Once, after my 8am infusion my blood pressure became so high that I went to the Emergency Room. After they had my BP under control I barely had time to make it to my 5pm appointment. Since it was Sunday, I was the only patient being infused at that time. After Evelyn started the drip, she asked if I had had anything to eat, since I hadn't, she called the cafeteria and even though they were closed, she got them to bring me a dinner of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and vegetables. This is truly above and beyond what I expected of a nurse.
Please recognize Evelyn for the exceptional person and Goodwill Ambassador for GCRMC that she is.
