Deepika Rai, RN, cared for an ill 85-year-old male patient, who was hospitalized in January. Dee cared for the patient during the last weekend of this hospitalization and made the most impact to his care, according to his daughter. The daughter felt it was Dee who gave them both support and comfort through his changing condition and helped her make the difficult decision of comfort care and hospice. She said it was Dee who made the biggest difference at the end of her father's life.

Months after her father's passing, the daughter arrived on the unit looking for Dee. The case manager saw that it was important to the daughter to speak with Dee who was working on another unit. The patient's daughter was able to speak with Dee and thank her.
