Our father was transferred to Northeast Methodist ICU for partial kidney failure, pinpoint pupils, rigidity, unresponsiveness, and hematoma. From the moment my brother and I arrived, the doctors and nurses have been incredible. We are very appreciative and would like to recognize one particular nurse that stood out amongst the rest. The care and attention Susanna has given our father has been amazing. Although I can't document everything, below are three of the examples that made her stand out.
First: Every single day she has been pleasant, her bedside manner is impeccable, even when she had to assist with a bowel movement on several occasions, she was apologetic and remained polite to our father.
Second: For 48 hours my father had negative thoughts and wanted to give up, Susanna helped him to calm down and did relaxation exercises with him. She held his hand while he was in pain and kept holding even after he fell asleep. Then she stayed even longer to ensure his readings were good. Throughout the night she was there multiple times every hour and not only ensured our father was doing well, but that we were okay.
Third: She talked to us and brainstormed ideas to help with his comfort and identify paths to improve his health. She ensured there was a good turnover and highlighted areas to watch, including both my brother and me in the discussion.
