My son has been at this unit for almost a year and it has been difficult to cope. Karolina always reassures me and comforts me and my concerns. She never dismisses my concerns no matter how big or small. From repositioning, changing him, trach care, talking to me, she is always there no matter how busy her shift is. She knows that changing his diaper is not her assigned duties but helps her patients and coworkers because she cares for her patients. You can tell she loves what she does and is selfless. She even helps us when she's not assigned to my son. I've seen her interact with others and it's just not me and my son. She helps everyone. I have never heard her say no, never seen her angry, never seen her not working. What sets her apart from other nurses is she thinks of the littlest things and details like turning on the TV, cleaning my son's eyes so he can see, and making his daughter happy and comfortable when he sees her. She has compassion and brings humor, love, and knowledge to her patients.
