This is the second time my 11-week-old baby has been admitted to Children's Hospital. This time though has been "memorable" due to the care we have received from a nurse named Maria. My baby has RSV, C-Diff, RFlux and has also had colic almost since birth. My baby is having trouble breathing due to RSV.
When Maria came on shift, it was totally amazing how much of a difference she made in our lives. She worked on my child, sucking out that mucus, comforting him, talking to him like he was her own. She also saw how distraught I was and gave me the same comfort by explaining his condition. By just talking to me she even made me laugh when my heart was so heavy.
By morning's light, I can honestly say my son had made a turn for the better and so had I. It was definitely due to Maria's skill, her winning personality, her nursing knowledge, and her love of children. I call her my angel nurse.
