My father had a life-altering decision to make yesterday. He needed to choose to either amputate half of his foot with a 50/50 chance of success or to make the harder decision to amputate below the knee with extremely better chances of having a full recovery. Paula was patient and caring with my father. She eased his mind once his decision was made. She was finally done with her shift and about to leave after her handoff with the night shift nurse, but she did not rush, she took the time to speak with my dad and hold his hand as he cried. Her empathy and caring heart were absolutely incredible to see! I cannot thank Paula enough for bringing such light and positivity to what was a difficult and emotional decision for my father and family.
