Heather has been there for my mom through several difficult times. It is hard to have a positive attitude when you're not feeling well, and Heather always greets you with a smile and concern for how you are feeling. There was a time when Mom didn't feel well when she came to have lab work done. She was worried that maybe her blood pressure was too high. She happened to see Heather and asked if she would mind checking her blood pressure when she had time. Heather immediately checked her blood pressure and Mom was relieved to know it was normal.
Heather has always checked on me as well since it is stressful having aging parents. On one occasion, Heather and I had a conversation about her koi fishpond when she heard a racket going on and discovered one of her fish was grabbing the tail feathers of a woodpecker at the water's edge. We shared a laugh over this true fish story, and it makes me smile when I recall the tale. It makes life a little less worrisome in the middle of all the uncertainty. Beyond this story, Heather was always asking how I was doing. I know that my Mom is the one we are all concerned about, but it is nice to know that I am thought of too.
We have seen Heather with other patients also and she always calms and soothes the fear away. Heather is a nurse that goes beyond her duties and is willing to help others. She is loved by all and truly loves what she does. Mom once asked Heather, "How do you do this job every day?" and she replied, "I just love caring for people." All of the staff have been good to us, but Heather has gone above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of. It is so reassuring to know that she is truly concerned about us and we are extremely grateful.
