Alicia is an amazing, caring and compassionate nurse. I had the honor of being her patient. I was in the hospital for a heart issue and was very stressed because my aunt was in the same hospital at the same time having open-heart surgery. Obviously, I couldn't be with my family because of my condition. Alicia was amazing, she said she would call over and get updates for me so it would ease my mind and heart for this reason alone. I would never be able to repay her kindness. Every time she would come in she updated me or asked how my aunt was doing. I lost my dad a month ago and my aunt is like a mother to me and because it was important to me, it was important to her. Her concern with any issue I had was addressed immediately and she made sure to follow up with it as well.
The #1 reason I will never forget this amazing person, that God put in my life is because while I was at the hospital I accidentally ingested bell peppers from my tray of food. I am highly allergic to them. Once I realized what was happening, because of choking and having a problem breathing, I cannot tell you how fast she took control of the situation. While trying to calm me down and reassuring me that I was going to be ok. She never let go of my hand and it was her and her alone who got me through that scary moment. I was turning blue. She understood the motions I was making (trying to explain that it was the bell pepper). The code went out for RRT and everyone was in the room, but it was just her voice that I kept hearing and her hands that let me know I was going to be ok and she was not going to leave my side. I don't know what would have happened, although the rest of the staff was great. I can't and never will be able to express to you how appreciative I am to have had her there for me. I expressed my gratitude to her and she was so humble simply to respond "oh you're welcome". Not only did she comfort me, but she consoled my husband, who was upset at almost losing me. She is and will always be extraordinary and special to us.
