Flor demonstrated excellence in patient care during MICU rounds. She had a critically ill patient who urgently needed peritoneal dialysis. The technical expertise she obtained while working on 9N (a peritoneal dialysis unit) allowed her to recognize the type of catheter the patient had, so she proactively called the appropriate people to start the process of getting the patient ready for treatment. She then went above and beyond by going to 9N to gather all the necessary supplies so the patient could immediately start their first treatment. Flor also demonstrated her leadership abilities by educating all members of the medical team and explained steps to follow with our next PD patient. Flor even explained best practices to prevent peritonitis. Most importantly, Flor demonstrated her caring nature and commitment to improving patient outcomes by doing everything possible for her patient. Flor is a true DAISY Nurse!
