When you become pregnant, everyone tells you the ideal pregnancy and how you get to leave the hospital after delivery in a few days with your beautiful baby. Thankfully, most women have this experience. I personally did not get so "lucky" to have an easy delivery or get to bring home my beautiful baby after a few days in the hospital. I guess I should not be too surprised considering it was such an eventful pregnancy from the beginning and having to have surgery at the beginning of my pregnancy. I don't remember much about labor but I am able to retell the details that my husband shared with me.

During labor, my blood pressure became low, my heart rate was increasing, and my baby's heart rate was increasing too. My doctor decided it was time to get the baby out for both. When my little girl Cheyenne, was born, she did not make a noise. My husband told me I asked if she was breathing and Kim said "There is a heartbeat." Cheyenne was rushed to the NICU where Kim and the other wonderful nurses helped my little girl. She stayed well over her shift had ended to be there with my little girl. Cheyenne was in the NICU for 1 week at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center before we were sent to Denver's Children Hospital.

Kim's knowledge and experience proved to be vital in determining what was wrong with Cheyenne. She knew something was wrong with Cheyenne's diaphragm and was able to get the doctors to request a fluoroscopy. It was clear to see the problem once the fluoroscopy was completed and we were soon rushed to Denver in case Cheyenne needed to have surgery. Thankfully, Cheyenne did not need surgery and after two weeks in Denver we were able to go home. I will never forget Kim (and the other NICU nurses) for loving my little girl and taking good care of her. I could say thank you a million times but those words do not cut it for what Kim has done for our family. Cheyenne is our little miracle and we have been blessed with having Kim a part of our lives.
