The right person at the right time for one lucky patient, that person was Corina Avram. When Corina arrived for her a.m. shift, she learned of a patient who had been transitioned to her floor during the night and whose condition warranted prompt action.

Corina's nominator spoke highly of her, stating that "as a Practice Coordinator, Corina could have easily delegated this patient's care, but instead she chose to care for and stabilize the patient herself. She stayed for two hours giving her personal care, getting pain meds, overseeing boluses, getting her food, staying in contact with physician for new orders, including drawing labs. The patient was resting comfortably when Corina left."

And what does the patient say about Corina? She told the nominator "Corina was my angel today. I think I might have died if she had not cared for me." And as for the nominator, her final comment rang true: "I believe Corina's care and compassion epitomize and exemplify a nurse's role."
