To say my wife's pregnancy was hard is an understatement. My wife, J, has spent most of her life with kidney stones, so our pregnancy was no different. We spent these 9 months in and out of the doctor's office and ER. We had 1 day until the induction when I came home from a 14-hour shift to find my bride crying from the pain. So, we loaded up and came in, this is where we met Amy. She went above and beyond to take care of my J and to ease her pain (and help me get some sleep). J and I both knew this was the nurse we wanted with us when we brought our baby girl into the world. Amy shared so much of herself, she became a part of our little family for the day. We were sad to find out on our recovery day we wouldn't have Amy, she had earned some much needed off time. However, when we woke the next morning, we heard a very familiar voice, it was Amy! My bride and I were so happy even our little baby perked up to the sound of her voice which gave us all a good chuckle. Being raised by a nurse with 20+ years' experience, I know how hard this job can be and how much it can take out of you. My bride and I are so thankful for Amy. She went above and beyond. Western Missouri is a better place because of nurses like Amy and we can't thank you all enough.
